MicroMix In-Line Mixer
HOMMAK MicroMix is a high-speed, high-shear inline mixer built on a multi-stage homogenizing structure. It blends liquids and powders in a single pass — air-free, fast, and to perfect homogeneity. With low energy consumption, it shortens production times, raises product quality, and noticeably reduces operating costs compared with conventional mixers.
Across dairy and milk products, food and beverage, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, chemical, and biotechnology production lines, it cuts downtime and drives particle distribution down to the micron level — delivering consistent viscosity, texture, and shelf life in your finished products.

How Does HOMMAK MicroMix Work?
MicroMix runs on a three-stage, high-shear mixing principle designed for inline positioning. Product is drawn directly from the tank or pipeline on your production line into the mixer’s suction inlet and processed in three stages:
Stage 1 – Suction and Intake
The high-speed rotating rotor generates a powerful vacuum effect around itself. Liquid components and powdered/granular solids are drawn into the center of the rotor-stator assembly. Because air intake is kept to a minimum at this stage, no foam or air pockets form in the final product.
Stage 2 – Mechanical Shear
In the very narrow gap between the precision-machined rotor teeth and the inner surface of the stator, material is mechanically sheared. Lumps are broken down, insoluble solids are dispersed, and the droplet size of liquid-liquid emulsions is reduced.
Stage 3 – Hydraulic Shear and Discharge
Passing at high speed through the perforations (rows of holes) in the stator, the product is exposed to intense hydraulic shear. At this stage particle size is reduced to the micron level, and a homogeneous, air-free mixture is delivered from the outlet into the pipeline. Quality can be improved further by running multiple passes through a recirculation tank.
Application Areas
HOMMAK MicroMix works on the same multi-stage homogenizing principle across different industries, and is supplied with application-specific head configurations and hygienic connection types.
Dairy and Milk Products
For yogurt, ayran, kefir, cream, filled milk drinks, whey concentrates, and the reconstitution of milk-based powder products, it provides consistent texture and shelf life. It accelerates the hydration of casein and whey proteins.
Food and Beverage
Used in sauces, mayonnaise, ketchup, salad dressings, chocolate spreads, fruit concentrates, beverage bases, and flavor-dissolving processes. It disperses hydrocolloids such as powdered sugar, pectin, and xanthan gum without clumping.
Cosmetics and Personal Care
In creams, lotions, shampoos, conditioners, gels, sanitizers, and emulsion-based cosmetics, it delivers tight emulsions and a smooth, non-grainy texture. It offers a critical advantage in pigment dispersion and viscosity control.

Pharmaceutical
In the production of suspensions, syrups, oral solutions, creams, and ointments, it ensures a repeatable particle size distribution. Thanks to its hygienic design and CIP/SIP compatibility, it supports GMP requirements.
Chemical and Petrochemical
Used in polymer dissolution, oil-water emulsions, detergent formulations, and paint and coating dispersions. Special material options are available for chemical-resistance requirements.
Biotechnology
Used in the preparation of fermentation media, cell culture media, and high-purity bioactive dissolution processes.
Hygienic Design, CIP/SIP and Standards
HOMMAK MicroMix is engineered to comply with international industry standards and hygienic production requirements.
- CE Standard: Conformity with the European Union Machinery Directive.
- ISO 9001: Production process certified under a quality management system.
- CIP (Clean-in-Place): Cleaning by circulating disinfectant/wash solution through the line, without disassembly.
- SIP (Sterilization-in-Place): In-place sterilization — a critical feature for pharmaceutical and biotechnology production processes.
- Stainless Steel Body: All product-contact surfaces are AISI 316L stainless steel; other surfaces are AISI 304.
- Hygienic Connections: Integration into existing lines with DIN 11851, SMS, or tri-clamp options.
Let’s determine the right MicroMix configuration for you together, based on your products, viscosity range, capacity needs, and hygiene requirements. HOMMAK experts provide support on inline mixer integration, CIP/SIP loop design, and energy optimization.

Why HOMMAK MicroMix?
- High Efficiency: Homogeneous, air-free mixing (no foam or air pockets) — especially for liquid products — with stable results in emulsions and suspensions.
- High Speed, High Shear: Thanks to the multi-stage rotor-stator structure, it blends solid and liquid components effectively in a single pass and rapidly reduces particle size.
- Energy Savings: Achieves the same result as conventional batch mixers in less time and with lower power consumption — saving on both carbon footprint and electricity costs.
- Wide Application Range: Suitable for dairy products, beverage concentrates, sauces, creams/gels/shampoos, pharmaceutical suspensions, chemical blends, and biotechnology media.
- Easy Maintenance and Hygiene: Durable stainless steel body, fully CIP/SIP-compatible design, and a low-part-count build mean minimal maintenance and fast cleaning cycles.

HOMMAK MicroMix vs. Traditional Batch Mixers
Traditional propeller/paddle-type in-tank mixers fall short — particularly with viscous or multi-component formulations: long mixing times, high energy consumption, air entrainment, and inconsistent particle distribution are the most common problems. HOMMAK MicroMix solves these as follows:
| Criterion | Traditional Batch Mixer | HOMMAK MicroMix |
|---|---|---|
| Mixing time | 30 – 90 minutes | Single pass / minutes |
| Air entrainment | High (foam/oxidation) | Minimal (air-free mixing) |
| Energy consumption | High | Low |
| Particle size control | Limited | Micron level |
| Line integration | In-tank, fixed | Inline, flexible |
| CIP/SIP | Usually limited | Fully compatible |
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is an inline mixer and how does it work?
An inline mixer is a high-shear machine connected directly onto the pipe or tank loop of a production line, mixing liquid and powder components on the line by passing them through a rotor-stator assembly. Compared with in-tank mixers, it delivers shorter processing times, more homogeneous results, and lower energy consumption.
What viscosities does MicroMix handle?
HOMMAK MicroMix works across a wide range — from low-viscosity water-based solutions to medium-to-high-viscosity cream, sauce, and gel formulations. For very high-viscosity products (above 200 cP), adding an auxiliary pump at the mixer inlet improves performance.
What is the key difference between MicroMix and a traditional mixer?
Traditional mixers blend with mechanical blades inside a tank, whereas MicroMix applies high shear on the line through a multi-stage rotor-stator structure. The result: an air-free, micron-level homogeneous mix within minutes, with up to 50% savings in time and energy compared with batch mixers.
Is MicroMix CIP/SIP compatible?
Yes. MicroMix is designed for on-line cleaning (CIP) without disassembly and in-place sterilization (SIP) with steam or hot water. With AISI 316L stainless steel contact surfaces and hygienic connections (DIN 11851, SMS, tri-clamp), it meets the requirements of the food, pharmaceutical, and dairy industries.
Which industries is it suitable for?
MicroMix is used across dairy and milk products, food and beverage, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, chemical/petrochemical, and biotechnology production lines. It is successfully applied to a wide product range including yogurt, cream, sauces, creams, shampoo, suspensions, beverage concentrates, and fermentation media.
